As I reflect on a five-month Digital Marketing internship with Rize Education, it feels like the perfect time to share what this organization has meant to my career. My first experience with Rize came as a student, where I completed seven Rize-powered courses to earn a Digital Marketing Major from Belmont Abbey College. As I began my final undergraduate semester, I was offered a chance to interview for a Digital Marketing Internship at Rize Education. My schedule was already full with classes and another internship, but I still felt led to pursue this role. Since landing the position, I have gained countless skills that have bolstered my resume, increased my confidence, and deepened my passion for Digital Marketing. My experience as an intern for Rize was definitely worth the small sacrifice of a busy semester, and I will always be thankful for this opportunity.

My first major task with Rize was to audit twelve months of LinkedIn content. This was a great way to become familiar with Rize's brand, work, and B2B marketing plan while gaining a real-world perspective on the strategy behind an entire year of social media content. After assessing the past year of posts, I shared key insights from my research about what types of content generate the most engagement. I was honored that the Rize Team trusted me to help shape their social strategy going forward and to master it alongside them. Rize gave me full administrative access to their LinkedIn account and let me craft my own posts to fill out their content calendar, which fostered growth in social media marketing through experimentation with actual post analytics. As a result of this experience, I am now confident when interpreting data to determine the most effective content and timing for a social media marketing campaign.

The biggest trend I discerned from a year of Rize posts was that human-interest stories drive engagement. Once I shared these results with the B2B marketing team (using verifiable analytics from 140 posts), I was entrusted with a multi-week LinkedIn campaign highlighting the personal stories behind the achievements of fellow Rize students. Over the past two semesters, Rize conducted a series of interviews in which students shared their experiences with the online format, as well as how skills from Rize-powered courses prepared them for academic, extracurricular, and professional success. The marketing team decided to feature eight of these students, focusing on the way Rize courses prepared them to flourish as interns. This was a great opportunity for me to touch every part of a LinkedIn initiative, from creating a campaign brief and strategy to working with video editors to choose the most compelling clips from an array of interviews. Our student spotlight campaign debuted in May, and it was a privilege to recognize the achievements of a few of our amazing Rize students.

Rize-powered courses introduced me to indispensable skills for the marketing industry. However, my internship with Rize gathered individual concepts into a comprehensive experience that will fuel confidence throughout my career. I began my time with this organization by studying what has been done in the past, but my internship soon shifted into a role where I could create my own content. I saw firsthand how every detail of marketing, research, content, and distribution combines into one unified message. Rize consistently accommodated my skills while fostering growth through varied tasks that reflect the multifaceted nature of the marketing industry. These responsibilities included: updating the Lower Cost Model Consortium (LCMC) website to include new partner institutions as Rize grows, selecting videos for a new YouTube channel, and recapping our end-of-semester student survey results with a document highlighting key takeaways.

In meetings with marketing leadership, I was asked what new experiences Rize could offer that would benefit my own resume and career. When I shared my passion for email marketing, Rize ensured that I would have the opportunity to build my proficiency in email communication before concluding this internship. I worked with the Partner Success team to craft emails for a survey campaign targeting administrators and faculty at partner institutions, and was entrusted to write emails that would persuade our constituents to share their opinions and expertise with us. I also worked on the July edition of the Rize email newsletter, sharing updates, upcoming events, and industry news with partners and prospects. Through this work I gained familiarity with customer management software and built confidence in my ability to communicate effectively with customers.

Finally, although my internship has been remote, Rize fosters personal connections among employees to ensure that everyone has adequate support. Even as an intern, I was invited to attend bi-weekly meetings with the entire company and encouraged to introduce myself and share my experience as both a Rize student and employee. These meetings also allowed me to witness the impressive rapport that the employees clearly have with one another. Every Rize employee whom I have encountered has been kind, and I was promptly given access to any organizational information that I requested, making me feel like an important team member. This organization managed to challenge me while providing strong support, and I was instructed without being micromanaged.

I am incredibly grateful to Rize for making this internship possible. I appreciate everyone who took the time to meet with me, answer endless questions, and walk me through the steps of each task, even when the project could have been completed faster without the complication of my inexperience. Throughout these five months, I have often been surprised by the confidence that was placed in me, and my internship with Rize has provided a vast array of Digital Marketing experience that I am eager to carry into the rest of my career.
